PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS
Kin
Park, located between Jubilee Bay and Centennial Crescent, has modern
playground structures, grass play areas and picnic tables.
- Elks-Royal Purple Park, 5th Avenue West, has modern
playground structures, grass play areas and picnic tables.
- Unity Public School, on 4th Avenue East, has
children's play structures.
- St. Peter's
School, 5th Avenue West, has children's play structures.
- Memorial Park, 7th Avenue East, provides a quiet,
well-shaded picnic area. The Town's Cenotaph is located in the center of this
park.
- Unity and District Regional Park, on the north side of
7th Avenue East, includes four ball diamonds; a playground area with a variety
of equipment; modern washrooms; a new concession building; tennis courts with
coin operated lights; horseshoe pits; an outdoor swimming pool with both full
size and learners pools; picnic and barbecue facilities; and a large museum
complex.

- Unity Heritage Museum occupies the north part of the
Regional Park and features restored schools, a church, one of the original early
homes of Unity, CP Rail Station and has two large quonsets full of restored
cars, trucks, a steam engine, and a threshing machine. Contact Freda McCallum at
228-2049 for the hours the Museum is open to the public.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS
- Horseshoe Pits: The three horseshoe pits in the Unity
Regional Park on 7th Avenue East are open to the public on a first-come,
first-serve basis. The pits may be used by people of all ages at no
charge.
- Tennis Courts: Located on 7th Avenue East, right beside
the swimming pool. Coin-operated lighting is available for night games.
- Basketball and Beach Volleyball: A cement basketball
pad and sand volleyball court are located at the Unity Composite High School on
2nd Avenue East. The courts are available for public use.
- Unity Minor Ball: The program runs May/June, ages 5-19
years. Provincial playoffs in July. Contact Bob Abel 228-2538 or Kelly Murray

- Youth Soccer: The program runs in May/June, ages 5-13
years. Contact Lynn Maze for more information at 228-2868.
- Karate Club: Contact Garry Grant at 843-2159 for more
information. This program runs September to April.
- Aerobics Classes: Contact Cindy O'Donnell at 228-3162
for class times and fees.
- Summer Fun Center: The Recreation Department is pleased
to be able to offer the popular Summer Fun Center activity program for children
5-11 years of age. Activities include games, crafts, swimming, videos, penny
carnival, bike safety, skits, singing and much more.
The program operates
from 10:00-12:00 noon and 1:00-4:00 pm on Monday to Friday. Fees for the Summer
Fun Center are $25.00 per child for a summer pass or $2.50 per day.
Out-of-town children who are visiting in Unity are welcome to attend.
SENIOR BASEBALL HAS RETURNED TO UNITY!
- The Unity Cardinals have entered the North Saskatchewan
Baseball League. For more information, contact the president, Harold Greenwald
at 228-2593.

- Unity Skating Arena : The Unity Skating
Arena starts the 2008-09 season the 2nd weekend in October and
runs until mid-March. To Book ice time, to
recieve a Minor Hockey Registration Form, or for information on
Minor Hockey, contact Nicole Dolezsar, Director or
Culture, Parks
and Recreation at the Town Office 228-2621.

- Unity Curling Arena
- Unity Community Centre Hall : The Unity
Community Center is used for a variety of functions year round. To book contact the Town Office
at 228-2621.
- Unity Swimming Pool : The Unity
Centennial Swimming Pool is opened early June each summer to the public,
depending on staff levels. Unity offers a wide variety of lessons and programs. The Swimming pool
usually offers 6 sets of lessons throughout the summer. Lessons vary from twice a week for a month,
2 week and 1 week lessons. Contact the swimming pool at 228-2133 to register. Lesson
Registration is mid May. The Unity Centennial
Swimming Pool is always seeking qualified lifeguards and instructors.

Unity Golf Course, west of Unity off Highway
#14, features a 9-hole grass green course with a modern licensed clubhouse, a
snack bar and golf equipment rental. This challenging course is very well used.

special events.
